A hearing in the DDCA defamation case of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday was heard in the Delhi High Court. There was a lot of debate between Kejriwal’s lawyers Ram Jethmalani and Jaitley’s lawyers.
Jethmalani has told Jaitley to the crook. Describing this objection, Jaitley said that Arvind Kejriwal has given you permission to say these words. If given, I am going to raise the defamation amount of 10 crores. Jaitley said there is a limit of humiliation.
When the hearing began, Ram Jethmalani showed Jaitley one of his articles written in ‘Indian Express’. He asked the finance minister if you have read this article. When Jaitley’s lawyers objected, Jethmalani said, “Arun Jaitley is a thief, I will prove it.”
Jaitley said, “Jethmalani is withdrawing his own rivalry. If such malicious questions are asked, then I can increase the amount of 10 million rupees for my defamation.” According to Jaitley, Jethmalani is attacking private life, which is not right.
Ram Jethmalani also said in the court that he fought as much as he did in bringing black money, Jaitley turned him back on. However, the court has upheld the date of July 28 and 31 for the next hearing.
The court did not allow to use PM’s name in this case.
Before this, when Jethmalani asked about consulting the Prime Minister to file a dispute with Jaitley, the minister’s lawyer asked the relevance of this question, which the court accepted. The joint registrar said that the question is not allowed because it has nothing to do with this matter.
Jethmalani also asked Jaitley that since you are a minister in the cabinet, best character witnesses should be the prime minister for you. Do you want to inquire about them?
After opposing the question by the minister’s lawyer Rajiv Nayar and Sandeep Sethi, the joint registrar said that the question is not allowed, as the list of witnesses of the petitioner (Jaitley) is on record.
