There is news of relief for the common man. Oil companies have announced reductions in petrol and diesel prices. Petrol is cheaper by Rs 2.16 a liter and diesel Rs 2.10 a liter. Lower prices will be effective from midnight on Monday.
India’s largest oil retailer Indian Oil Corporation issued a statement and reported new prices of petrol and diesel. Now in Delhi, the price of petrol will be 65.32 rupees, Mumbai Rs 74.72, Chennai Rs 68.26 and Kolkata Rs 68.21 per liter. In Delhi, diesel is priced at Rs 54.90, Mumbai Rs 60.47, Chennai Rs 58.07 and Kolkata Rs 57.23 per liter.
Prior to this, on May 1, the price of oil was increased marginally, petrol was costlier by 1 paisa and diesel was 44 paisa per liter.
petroleum ministry is considering the possibility of home delivery of petroleum products.
