New Delhi: In the home match of the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by a huge margin of 51 runs in the 15th match of the tournament on Saturday. Delhi, batting first, won the toss and set a target of 189 against Punjab.
After playing the entire 20 overs, the Punjab team could only manage 137 runs at the loss of eight wickets and lost the match.
In front of Delhi’s strong bowling attack, the batsmen of Punjab were never seen easily and losing wickets at regular intervals. Alphabet Patel contributed the highest number of 44 runs for the visiting team. Apart from them, David Miller scored 24 and Eoin Morgan scored 22 runs.
Chris Morris took three wickets for Delhi. Shabda Nadeem and Pat Cummins had two successes.
Earlier, Delhi made 188 against Sam Billings (55) and Corey Anderson (39 not out) in the final over with the help of Delhi Daredevils, who lost six wickets in their 20 overs in the stipulated 20 overs.
Corey Anderson, who took 1 wicket for Delhi Daredevils, besides having a fantastic batting, became the ‘man of the match’.
