Will pay half of funds needed to run Delhi Metro if Centre gave 50 %: Arvind Kejriwal

Chief Minister Kejriwal has played a new bet against the hike in Delhi Metro fares. The Chief Minister of Delhi has written a letter to the central government and has submitted all the proposals. According to the letter, Kejriwal has demanded 1500 crores of rupees to be given to the Delhi government and Rs 1500 crores from the Center to handover the metro to stop the existing fare hike.




After Kejriwal’s letter, leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta has targeted Kejriwal. Gupta said that Kejriwal is doing politics with the help of Metro, the committee which has increased the rent, the Delhi government is also a partner in the committee and it is decided by his consent.

fares will go up by a maximum of Rs 10 after the latest hike comes into effect.
The existing fare structure is: up to 2 kms — Rs 10, 2-5 kms — Rs 15, 5-12 kms — Rs 20, 12-21 kms — Rs 30, 21-32 kms — Rs 40 and for journeys beyond 32 kms — Rs 50.
From October 10, for a distance of up to two kilometres, the fare will remain Rs 10, but for a distance between two and five kilometres, it will go up from Rs 15 to Rs 20.

He said that if the Center has to give 1500 crores, then the Delhi government will pay a total of 3000 crores because it is part of Delhi government and it will also be decided through Parliament.
