Varun Gandhi reminds the government: ‘Atithi Devo Bhava:’ tradition on the Rohingya issue

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Varun Gandhi has said in an article on the Rohingya issue that India should help him. Varun has written that we should give shelter to Myanmar Rohingyas but before that, we should also assess the valid safety concerns. Significantly, this stand of Varun is very different from the government’s stand. In the affidavit filed by the Central Government in the Supreme Court, Rohingya Muslims have declared threat to the security of the country.

Follow hospitality rules

Varun wrote that he should help his family return home voluntarily while using his power from peaceful measures. Following the tradition of hospitality and shelter, it should definitely continue to give shelter by us.

In an article written for a Hindi newspaper, Varun said that since independence, about 40 million people have crossed the border of India, now even more refugees are preparing to come. Varun wrote that India has signed a number of treaties on the refugees, but has not made any law for it. He said that under this law.

Varun also raised the issue of the problems of the refugees living in the country at the present time. He wrote that the arrangement of residence for refugees is the biggest problem, most Afghans and Myanmars living in Delhi and have to face the discrimination of landlords.

What does the central government’s affidavit say?

The Central Government filed a 16-page affidavit on September 18, on the plan to send Rohingya Muslims back to Myanmar. In this affidavit, the Center said that some Rohihya refugees have been touch with terrorist organizations based in Pakistan. In this case, they can prove to be a threat to national security.
