Terrorism is violation of human rights: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday made a strong pitch for coordinated efforts among SCO members to combat the menace of terrorism and enhance connectivity “without impinging on sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

In his address at the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in the Kazakh capital, where Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping among others were present, Modi hoped that India’s entry into the grouping will give a new momentum in dealing with terrorism.

His remarks assume significance as they come weeks after India boycotted the high-profile Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing in which 29 world leaders took part.
