In Somalia, 231 people have died, hundreds injured in bomb blasts
In the Somalia capital Mogadishu, a bomb blast took place outside a hotel and market on Saturday, so far 231 people have died, while more than 250 people have been injured. This blast was being described as the most horrific explosion of the last three decades.
Three days mourning in Somalia
Somalia President Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed has announced the mourning for three days and has called upon the people to help the victims through blood donation. Residents of the city are looking for victims buried below the wreckage of damaged buildings.
Increasing number of injured in hospitals
Mohammed Abbasar, who survived the blast , said, “I lost my three brothers in the attack. When this explosion happened, we were in our pharmacy. ‘ A hospital director said, “Hospitals are full of wounded and dead, many people have lost their bodies in the blast.”
No organization has taken responsibility
No organization has taken responsibility for this attack, but social media has indicated the attack of Somali militant organization Al-Shabab being behind this attack. Islamic group Al-Shabab is a terrorist organization al-Qa’ida. It wants to convert Somalia into an Islamic state and controls a large area of the country.
Somalia government claims
The Somalia government has also described Al-Shabab as responsible for the attack. However, no statement has been issued on behalf of Al-Shabab. Somalia’s Prime Minister Hasan Ali said that the attackers targeted the most populated area of Mogadishu.
