Ram Rahim case: HC rebuff Khattar government, says- city burned for political benefit

Dera Sacha chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted by a CBI court of Panchkula Friday on a 15-year-old rape case. Immediately after Baba was convicted, his supporters got agitated and in 5 states including Haryana and Punjab, he made a mess. The highest impact of violence was seen in Panchkula, where 29 people died. Two people died in Sirsa.

On the violence, the Punjab-Haryana High Court has thrashed the Khattar government for the third consecutive day. The court said that the government allowed the city to burn for political advantage. It seems that the government surrendered.

Earlier on Friday, after the court’s decision, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered that the damage done due to the violence and arson carried out by the followers of self-styled Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh should be compensated by the Dera Sacha Sauda .

The court ordered that no political, social or religious leader would make any provocative statement and if someone does so, then the FIR should be lodged against him. The bench said in the order, the officers dealing with the situation should do their job without fear and with fairness. If an officer fails in discharge of duty, the court will take strict action against him.

The High Court had pulled up the Haryana Government over the law and order in the state. Explain that the court, showing a very strict stand in the whole case, had said that if the weapon or force should be used to control the situation after the verdict, then surely it should be done.

While hearing a PIL, the High Court had also instructed that the law and order system of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh should not worsen at any cost. The High Court banned any kind of political, social and religious statements on the verdict and directed them to do an FIR against them.
