Rajya Sabha elections: PM Modi congratulates Amit Shah and Smriti Irani for wining Rajya Sabha elections

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Union Minister Smriti Irani and BJP National President Amit Shah on choosing Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat. Shah became the Rajya Sabha member for the first time. In the elections held yesterday, Information and Broadcasting and Textile Minister Smriti Irani also won and once again she was elected a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to BJP President Amit Shah and Minister Smriti Irani as Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat.”

PM Modi also congratulated Shah for completing three years as BJP president. He said, “Under the leadership of Shah, BJP has strengthened its base in many areas and has worked diligently towards nation building.”

 

 

BJP has captured two seats

Of the three Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat, BJP occupied two seats. BJP’s national president Amit Shah will be in Rajya Sabha for the first time. In the second seat Smriti Irani has also retained her place. In this election, Shah and Irani get 46-46 votes. At the same time, Ahmed Patel got 44 votes; Balwant Singh Rajput, who left the Congress and joined BJP, had to be satisfied with 38 votes.
