Parliament Live: GST is successful because of the help of all parties, says PM Modi

parliament began its Wednesday session with a commemorative discussion on the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement in Lok Sabha.

The lower house is expected to introduce the National Sports University Bill, while it will also consider the Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property (Amendment) Bill, the State Banks (Repeal and Amendment) Bill and the Central Road Fund (Amendment) Bill.

The Rajya Sabha is expected to take up for consideration the Indian Institutes of Management Bill.

11:53am: PM Modi concludes speech.

11:50am: “Mahatma Gandhi said ‘do or die’. Now we must say we will do and keep doing,” says Modi, stressing the country will have to fight corruption, provide better facilities to women and develop the nation.

11:48am: “From 2017 to 2022, when India turns 75, we need to create the same spirit that existed from 1942 to 1947,” says Modi.

11:47am: The Prime Minister says the success of GST was not due to the NDA government or one party, but due to the contribution of all parties, states and traders.
