Online Train ticket booking: difficult now, IRCTC has blocked six bank debit cards included SBI

new Delhi. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of Indian Railway’s online ticketing facility, has blocked the debit card of six banks due to differences over the facility fee. With these six banks’ cards, customers will no longer be able to book tickets online. The six banks whose debit cards have been blocked include State Bank of India and ICICI Bank.

Currently, only Indian Overseas Bank, Canara Bank, United Bank of India, Indian Bank, Central Bank of India, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank card holders can book online rail tickets only. The six banks whose cards have been banned, have denied the sharing of the facility fee with IRCTC.

IRCTC had stopped such banks from operating on the website as they were unwilling to share a half of the convenience fees earned on customer transactions, the report said.

After the note ban, finance minister Arun Jaitley had terminated the service tax on the railway ticket to be booked through IRCTC’s website. Earlier, Rs 20 was charged on the sleeper class ticket booked through IRCTC’s website and 40 rupees on AC class ticket.
