Badminton National Championship: Shuttle Sindhu-Saina will play straight in quarterfinals

All players included in the T-50 in the BWF World Rankings will get direct entry into the quarterfinals of the National Championship, with a prize money of Rs 1 crore. The Indian Badminton Association (BAI) has taken this decision.



Silver medal winners PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal (12th) will play straight in the quarterfinals of the World Championship. In the men’s singles Kidambi Srikanth (8), HS Prannoy (15), Sameer Verma (19) and Ajay Jayaram (20) will get direct entry into the last eight of the tournament.

BAI president Himanta Vishwa Sharma said, “All the players in the top rankings are required to participate in this tournament. All players occupying the top 50 in the world rankings will get the direct entry in the quarter-finals. Maximum 8 shuttleles to singles will be given in the quarter-finals.
