Last date for filing GST Returns for July, August revised

Companies will have more time now to fill GST returns. The government increased the last date for payment of tax as well as filing sales and purchase data for July and August. Now the sale returns for July or GST-1 will be available till September 10. Earlier this deadline was five September. Buyback Returns or GSTR-2 will be available till September 25. Earlier this limit was September 10.




GSTR-1 and GSTR-2 will be matched with GSTR-3 by 30th September. The last date for this was September 15. The GST implementing committee, GIC, has extended the date of filling GSTR-1, GST-2 and GST-3 to 10, 25 and 30 September 2017, the government said in the information provided through Twitter.

The industry was demanding to increase the deadline for filing last GST return in view of multiple invoices being uploaded. The government will soon issue notification for filing returns. 92,283 crores have been collected under the initial returns of July, paid in Form GSTR-3B. This amount has been received from 64.42 percent of the total taxpayers. Of the total 59.97 lakh companies registered in July, 38.38 lakh taxpayers filed GST Returns. This is 64.42 percent of the total number.
