Jokapath village in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh gets electricity connections for the first time since independence

Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh is in the spotlight these days. The reason for this is that for the first time after 70 years of independence light has come in a village.

People from Jokapath village of Balrampur district are very happy to come to electricity in village. The Sarpanch of the village said that we are very happy with the coming of electricity, now our children will be able to read and write well and will make their future.

On the arrival of electricity in the village, the District Officer said that Jokapath village is surrounded by hills and forests, so it took 70 years to reach the development.




Chhattisgarh is on top in terms of power generation in the country. Every year about 11 thousand MW of electricity is generated. Electricity generation in Chhattisgarh state is higher than consumption, i.e. there is electricity surplus.

Despite this, there are 4.5 lakh households in 27 districts of this state where there is no electricity. Electric poles have been engaged in many areas for many years, but electricity has not reached till now.
