JDU MLA goes against the party, gave Ahmed Patel vote, general secretary dismissed

In the Rajya Sabha elections of Gujarat, where there is a fierce battle between BJP and Congress for one vote, JDU legislator Chhotu Basawa has claimed that he has given his vote to Congress candidate Ahmed Patel. Chhotu Basawa rejected the claim of his party leader, Casey Tyagi that JD (U) MLA has voted for BJP. JDU took the action and fired Gujarat in-charge Arun Shrivastav from the party. The General Secretary accused the MLA of not sending the message till he was out of the party.

Whilst the two NCP MLAs voted, it is still suspense. It is believed that at least one of these two MLAs has made the difficulties of Congress leader Ahmed Patel to vote for the BJP candidate.

Significantly, if Ahmed Patel has to win the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat, he needs at least 45 votes. The Congress has 44 MLAs, one of which is cross voting i.e. the Congress candidate gets 43 votes of the party. Apart from this, if Chhotu Basawa’s vote is recorded in Ahmad Patel’s account, then the number of votes he gets gets becomes 44.

Ahmed Patel still needs a vote to win There are two legislators in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state. It is believed that one of them has voted for the Congress and the other to the BJP. There are two NCP MLAs Jayant Patel and Kandal Jadeja. Even if this happened, Ahmed Patel’s victory is sure. But if any of these 45 people had used the note or had voted for the BJP candidate, then the dream of Patel going to the Rajya Sabha again would be broken.
