IRCTC case: CBI issues fresh summons against Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi yadav

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted a probe into alleged irregularities in the contract of ‘Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’ (IRCTC) hotel against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son tejashwi Yadav. In the case, a new summons has been issued.

Agency spokesman Abhishek Dayal said, “Central Bureau of Investigation has sent summons to both on Thursday and Friday for questioning.” Lalu and Ravi did not appear before the three summons issued earlier, after which the CBI has taken this step.

Summons were issued to Lalu on September 26 and the tejashwi on October 3 and 4, but both of them sought two weeks time. The CBI sent summons to the former Bihar chief minister and his son and former deputy chief minister tejashwi on September 7 for questioning on September 11 and September 12.

The CBI registered a case of corruption against Laloo Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejaswi Yadav on July 5 in connection with the irregularities in the allocation of IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri to a private company on July 5. The allocation took place when Lalu was the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009.

The CBI registered a case under criminal conspiracy, cheating and corruption prevention act. The agency claims that the bribe was paid through an Anonymous company owned by rjd MP Prem Chand Gupta’s wife Sarla Gupta.
