Economist Rajiv Kumar New Vice President of niti-aayog

New Delhi: The name of economist Dr Rajiv Kumar was fixed as the new Vice President of the Policy Commission tonight. This decision has been made after five days after the announcement of returning to the academic area, after the outgoing vice president, Arvind Pangarhia.

An official spokesman said that the government has appointed Dr. Vinod Paul, a pediatrician in AIIMS as a member of the Policy Commission. Kumar is a Senior Fellow in the Center Center for Policy Research (CPR), who has done PhD from Deffil and Lucknow University in Economics from Oxford.

Earlier, he was the General Secretary of FICCI and has been the Chief Executive of the Indian Council for Research on International Economics Relations (ICRIER). He has been a member of the National Security Advisory Board between 2006 and 2008.

He has also been the Chief Economist of the Indian Industry Confederation (CII) and has also held important positions in the Asian Development Bank, Indian Ministry of Industry and Finance.

Kumar is also a member of the Board of International and National Institutions, which includes the name of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and Asia, State Bank of India and Indian Foreign Trade Institute at King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, Jakarta and Riyadh.

Pangdhariya had announced on August 1 that he would withdraw from the Commission on August 31 and return to Columbia University, after which appointment to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Policy Commission had become necessary. Indian-American Pangadia was associated with the Policy Commission in January 2015.
