EC bans former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda from contesting elections for three years

New Delhi: The Election Commission has declared former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda as unqualified to contest the election for three years. The Election Commission took this decision on Wednesday to avoid shearing of spending details of the Lok Sabha elections contested in 2009. Madhu Koda won the election from Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat of Jharkhand.




Madhu Koda was disqualified while citing Section 10A of the Representation of the People Act, in order of the Commission, signed by Chief Election Commissioner AK Joshi and Election Commissioner OP Rawat.

the Election Commission was listening to the case against Madhu Koda, 2009 to present false documents of alleged election expenses. Koda was elected as an Independent MP in 2009.Madhu Koda was elected as independent MP in 2009. He first got the notice from the Election Commission in October 2010 on the ground that he had allegedly shown the election expenses much less than the actual amount of about Rs. 19 lakh.

In the order of 49 pages, it was said that the details of election expenditure submitted by Jharkhand leader were false. The Koda had challenged the Election Commission’s jurisdiction to the Delhi High Court, but the court had given the EC permission to continue the proceedings against Madhu Koda.
