GST Network, which provides IT infrastructure for GST, will launch two call centers on Sunday to answer taxpayers and tax officials questions. Goods and service tax (GST) will be effective from July 1 and the item and service tax network (GSTN) will play a vital role as it will have to maintain large number of invoices and business details.

Call center will be opened with the help of Infosys and Tech Mahindra
GSTN has tied up with call centers for IT giant Infosys and Tech Mahindra. For questions related to registration, taxpayers can call 0120-4888999. More than 200 trained professionals will manage the call center for taxpayers, and this will increase to 400 in the coming time.

GSTN said in a statement that many taxpayers need help and guidelines so that they can easily adapt to new technologies. The call center will start working from June 25 and will ensure that the new registration process is smooth under GST.

GSTN Chairman Naveen Kumar said, “We are aware that not all taxpayers are aware of technology and they may have to face difficulties in fulfilling their registration and application process. Our duty as a technology provider is that we provide all possible help to them.

Will start from June 25
GSTN has established a portal which will be able to manage 2.6 billion transactions per month. Apart from this, GSTN has established another call center 0124-4479900 to assist the central and state tax authorities. Kumar said that the team of forty members will look after the needs of the tax officials of the states, Central Government (CBEC). It will also be operational from June 25.
