Bikers, beware! DM orders cancellation of DL, registration & kin’s arms licences

Patna: A day after the arrest of 20 members of different bikers’ gangs,Patna DM Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Thursday directed the officials concerned to cancel their bikes’ registration as well as their driving licence (DL). While a process has been initiated to put the arrested bikers on speedy trial, Agarwal has also asked the station house officers of the state capital’s all police stations to prepare a list of such antisocial elements and find out i they or their family members possess any arms licence. “We will cancel all such arms licences,”the DM said.
He further directed the police stations not to issue such miscreants the character certificate that is required to be submitted before joining any government job.





“These bikers are a menace Many of them are are involved in chain snatching and eve teasing.
Complaints against them keep pouring in,” Agarwal said, adding the administration might contemplate approaching their educational institutions and request for their rustication. The DM’s move follows the arrest of 20 youths, alleged to be members of bikers’ gangs, from different locations in Patna on Wednesday. Two regular rifles, a
country-made semi-automatic pistol, four bikes, a high-end car and several rounds of live cartridges were recovered from them. This police crackdown came close on the heels of an ugly clash between the supporters of rebel JD (U) Rajya Sabha member Sharad Yadav and chief minister Nitsih Kumar outside the latter’s residence
in high-security zone on August 17
