Bihar:Chief minister calls upon youths to fight intolerance and climate of distrust

Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday exhorted the youths to take up cudgel against all social evils and step in to counter designs to propagate the feeling of distrust and intolerance in the country.

Kumar was inaugurating a three-day Patliputra rashtriya yuva sansad (PRYS), organised by a group of Amity University professionals as part of their academic activities. About 400 students from different parts of the country are participating in the conclave that is also aimed at discussing contemporary issues the country is grappling with.

Lauding the initiative, the CM said the future of the nation rested on the youths, who form the largest community in India. “Ratio-wise, Bihar happens to possess the maximum number of youths in the country,” he said, asking them to help the state become a hub of social revolution that was initiated by enforcement of total prohibition.

Recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran visit, being celebrated by the state in a grand manner, Kumar said Bihar had been a cradle of learning and politics. “Post Champaran Satyagraha movement, which saw the country being liberated in 30 years, the state has not witnessed any mass movement for social reforms”, said the CM, adding that the government had proposed to launch a massive campaign against dowry and child marriage.
