bihar ngo scam: congress seeks sc monitored probe, demands nitish kumar sushil kumar modi resignation

New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday sought a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the alleged multi-crore NGO fraud in Bihar, and asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Modi to step down. The opposition party also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP to come clear if any union minister was allegedly involved in the scam. The Congress though chose to not name the any minister. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari also demanded that it should be probed if the Srijan and Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam scams are “connected in any manner”, given that the principal accused in both the cases were allegedly killed.

Tiwari said that the recommendation of the CBI to get the probe into the scam by Nitish Kumar is nothing but a ‘show’. He said that it is such a big matter that till the matter is not investigated by the Supreme Court, the truth will not come out. He said that not only the state level leaders but also some of the BJP’s central leaders and ministers are coming in this matter. He said without mentioning anyone’s name that in the forthcoming reshuffle of the Union Cabinet, two ministers could be removed only due to alleged involvement in the ngo scandal. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify the situation about this.

Another Congress spokesman Ajay Kumar said that under the NGO scandal, there are allegations that a non-licensed bank was opened in a village in Bihar. There were also allegations that an administrative officer’s wife was given a loan to buy expensive motorcycles. When asked why the Congress did not raise this issue during the government run in the alliance with JDU in Bihar, Ajay said that since this matter has emerged from the time the party has been raising the matter constantly.
