Allahabad: boat Overturned in river Ganges, four people feared drowned

A boat was    Overturned        on Saturday evening near Tella Ghat of Meja tehsil    in Allahabad district of Uttar        Pradesh. Four people are likely to be drowned in this accident. A total of 16 people were in the boat.

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed district administration to take immediate rescue work for some people when they went missing in the accident. He said that all necessary steps should be taken to save the missing people and action should be taken to fight them.




Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, relief and rescue operations are being carried out at the level of the district administration.

Meja police station officer Umesh Sharma said that “this boat was going from Megha to Hondia tehsil, in which there were 16 people, and at about 7 in the boat the boat was reversed in the middle and 12 people swam across the river, while 4 people Are still missing. ”

They said that there were 6-7 motorcycles and 4-5 bicycles in this boat. The missing people are all men who are between 28 and 35 years of age. One of them is a resident of Hundia Tehsil, while the three Mejas are residents of Tahsil. Divers have been called for the missing people. Sharma said that due to darkness there is difficulty in the search operation.
