5 agreements including two units of Kudankulam between India and Russia
Narendra Modi arrived on 4 European countries on a visit to Russia on Wednesday, Modi met Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Russia supports India’s entry into the NSG, United Nations Security Council
Russia reiterated today its strong support for India’s candidature for permanent membership of the expanded United Nations Security Council and its membership in the nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and other arrangements of nuclear weapons non-proliferation.
In a yearly bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the two countries resolved to increase their cooperation on multilateral forums like BRICS, WTO, G20 and SCO and SCO and Russia-India-China cooperation.
In a note issued after the Modi-Putin talks, “Russia repeats its strong support for India’s candidature for the permanent seat in the expanded United Nations Security Council.” While supporting Russia’s efforts to enter India in the 48-member NSG, he said that he agrees that India’s involvement in multilateral export control regimes will contribute to improving them.
The declaration states that in this perspective, Russia welcomes India’s request for membership in the NSG and Vasnar system and repeats the concrete support for incorporating India into these control systems as early as possible.
Four major export control systems- a member of the Indian Missile Technology Control System (MTCR) in NSG, MTCR, Australia Group and Wasanar arrangement. It had filed an application for membership of the NSG last year, but it had to face China’s strong opposition. India recently linked its export control list to an arrangement like the Wasanar system.
At the summit, the two countries mentioned clearly to China’s ‘One Belt One Road’ (OBOR) project, saying that they did not respect any kind of monopoly or respect for sovereignty and ignored the main concerns and judicial interests of the countries. Will oppose.
The main reason for India’s opposition to this project is the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPC), which is part of the OBOR. In fact, CPE passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).
Modi is happy to meet on
Narendra Modi further said, “Both Russia and India believe in happiness and benefits for both, there is a special relationship of friendship and trust between the two countries and the people here. Every relationship saw fluctuation, but the relations between India and Russia have never fluctuated. ”
On this occasion Putin said, “Russia respects all interests of India, India will become a full-fledged member of the Shanghai Corporation Organization (SCO) in a week.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin today held extensive talks on mutual interest on bilateral, regional and international issues and strengthening energy and trade relations. In the conversation with Putin, Modi mentioned his visit to the memorial of the martyrs of World War II in the morning. He said to Putin, “You are the leader whose family sacrificed. Your brother had martyrdom.” It is worth mentioning that Putin’s brothers were killed in the Leningrad attack in World War II 70 years ago.
Putin thanked Modi for going to war memorial and said that there is a special significance for such places in the hearts of the Russian people.
