41 killed, 180 injured in two-train-collision in Egypt

Cairo: 41 people have died in the collision of two fast trains in Alexandria, in coastal city of Egypt on Friday, while 180 people have been injured. Officials of Health Ministry reported that a train was coming from Cairo’s capital Cairo and the second train was coming from Port Said. Two trains collided in the Khurshid area.

 

Ministry of Transportation said that the train coming from Cairo to Alexandria collided behind the train, which was going from Port Said to Alexandria but  standing on Khurdshi station during the incident. According to the statement of the Health Ministry, at least 41 people have died and 180 people have been injured in the accident. Health Minister’s Advisor Sharif Wadi told that the casualties can increase. The Ministry said that 75 ambulances have been deployed at the site of accident and all hospitals in Alexandria have been placed on high alert.

 




Hegazi Under Secretary Health Ministry told that, “The rescue team is searching for survivors. The injured are being taken to adjacent hospitals through ambulances. “In Egypt, train injuries are often. Five people were killed and 27 were injured when a train derailed in Al Aai in the south of Cairo in the year 2016. Earlier, in 2013, at least 19 people lost their lives when another train derailed in Badra Rashin of Giza.

In 2012, 51 people were killed in a train and school bus collision on the railway crossing in Manphal town, mostly are children.
