Dinesh Karthik replaces injured Manish Pandey in Champions Trophy 2017

Wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been included in the Indian squad for England Champions Trophy in place of injured injured man Manish Pandey. The BCCI has tweeted this information. Chris was part of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy in 2013. Kartik played in his last ODI in the Asia Cup against Afghanistan in March 2014.

The wicketkeeper batsman was kept on standby for the tournament and as soon as the news of Pandey being unfit, Kartik was included in the team. Karthik was in good form during the IPL. During the 14 matches played during this period, Kartik has scored 361 runs at an average of 36. During this time his strike rate was about 140.

For Manish Pandey, however, it will be extremely painful to lose this opportunity. This could be his first ICC tournament. The Kolkata Knight Riders were not part of the Eliminator match played against Pandey Sunrisers Hyderabad.
