New Delhi: Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in India on Sunday on a four-day visit. During this, he will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on key bilateral, regional and international issues including the West Asia Peace Process.
Prior to Abbas’s visit, India reiterated its political support to the Palestine issue and said it would continue to assist in development projects there. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this visit will provide an opportunity to review all aspects of bilateral relations, the West Asia Peace Process and regional and international issues.
The Ministry said that many MoUs on cooperation in different areas are also expected to be signed during the visit. Delegation level talks between President Abbas and Prime Minister Modi on May 16
The ministry had said in a statement on Saturday, “There is a historically close and friendly relationship between India and Palestine. In addition to political support to Palestine’s issue, India will continue to support development projects in Palestine by providing technical and financial support. “The significance of the statement is in view of the increasing criticism of growing close relations between the Government of India and Israel.
It is being said that Modi’s visit to Israel could have an impact on the relations of Palestine with India. In July, Modi is going to travel to Israel. Modi will be the first Prime Minister of India to visit Israel
During his visit to India, Abbas will visit C-DAC (Center for Development of Advanced Computing) in Noida, adjacent to Delhi, to develop cooperation between Palestine-India Technology Park. This park is being constructed by India in Palestine
