new delhi:Mastermind of the Mumbai attack and Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed will be kept in detention for another 90 days. The period of detaining them for three months is ending on Sunday.
An official of the Home Department of the Punjab Government said that the state government decided to extend the period of detention of Hafiz Saeed and four associates under the anti-terrorism law of the country. He said that notification of this effect will be issued soon.
They said, “The government has decided to increase the period of 90 days in the offense of being internally detained,” Hafiz Saeed, Professor Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdur Rahman Abid, Kazi Kasif Hussain and Abdullah Ubaid said. The government had sealed Saeed and four other leaders on January 30.
In fact, last week Pakistan had repeatedly said that Hafiz Saeed is a terrorist. Pakistan’s Home Ministry had affirmed with the affidavit in the Lahore High Court that Hafiz Saeed was involved in terror activities.
Hafiz Saeed had filed a petition against the government in the court, Hafiz had said that he has been being detained illegally for several months.
