DUSU Elections 2017: 1.3 lakh Delhi University students to vote today

    New Delhi: Nearly 1.3 lakh voters will decide on Tuesday which party gets to rule Delhi University next year. The first stage of voting is currently underway and will continue till 1 pm. The second stage of polls would start at 3 pm and end at 7.30pm.




    The top contenders in DUSU 2017 elections are Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and BJP-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Others in the fray are All India Students Association (AISA), Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students Association (BAPSA) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI).

    1. NSUI

    President: Rocky Tuseed

    Vice-president: Kunal Sehrawat

    Secretary: Meenakshi Meena

    Joint Secretary: Avinash Yadav

    2. ABVP

    President: Rajat Choudhary

    Vice-president: Paarth Rana

    Secretary: Mahamedhaa Nagar

    Joint Secretary: Uma Shankar

    3. Students’ Federation of India (SFI)

    President: Rafat Alam

    Vice-president: Jitendra Kumar

    Secretary: Kolisetty Lakshmi

    Joint Secretary: Roshan

    4. AISA

    President: Parul Chauhan

    Vice-president: Aditya Baibhav

    Secretary: Jaishree

    Joint Secretary: Akash Gupta

    However, the DUSU Election results may not be declared on Wednesday – the day after polling. The varsity has written to Delhi high court seeking clarity on this.
