MI vs KKR: Mumbai outplay Kolkata, set-up IPL 2017 final date with Rising Pune Supergiant

    Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets in the second qualifier of the IPL season 10, for the fourth time in the IPL final. Batting first, the Kolkata Knight Riders team gave the target of 108 runs to Mumbai Indians. In reply, the Mumbai Indians, chasing the target of 108 runs, scored 111 runs in 14.3 overs and the match was reduced to 6 wickets. On behalf of Mumbai Indians, Kunal Pandya top scored with 45 runs while captain Rohit Sharma scored 26 runs. Leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who was the hero of Mumbai’s win, was named ‘Man of the Match’. Mumbai Indians will face Rising Pune SuperJay in the final match of the 21st May in Hyderabad.

    Mumbai started was not  well and Lendl Simmons was out in the second over. Piyush Chawla gave LBW to Lendl Simmons in the first over in 1.3 overs and gave Mumbai the first blow. The second wicket also fell soon after, when Parthiv Patel (14) was caught by Umesh Yadav in the 2.5 overs, Robin Uthappa caught. Mumbai’s third wicket fell as Ambati Rayudu (6), Piyush Chawla bowled him at 34 for 5.4 in 5.4 overs. Nathan Coulter-Nile smashed Rohit Sharma (26) in 12.2 overs to Ankit Rajput Piyush Chawla took 2 wickets for most.

    Batting first, the team of Kolkata Knight Riders was all out for 107 runs in 18.5 overs. Kolkata’s Sunyakumar Yadav scored 31 runs while Ishank Jaggi scored 28 runs. There was a 56-run partnership between Ishank Jaggi and Surya Kumar for the sixth wicket. The team’s score could reach 107 runs. Mumbai’s spinner Karn Sharma got 4 wickets, Jaspreet Bumrah scored 3 wickets (3 overs, 7 runs) and Mitchell Johnson took 2 wickets. Actually Mumbai’s win was the name of the bowlers, because they did not make KKR run and put them on low scores.

    Kolkata started poorly and in the second over, Jaspreet Bumrah scored the first blow to Kolkata by dismissing Chris Lynn (4). Karn Sharma dropped the second wicket of 24 runs in 4.4 overs. Parthiv Patel stuck to Sunil Narine (10) on his ball. The third wicket also fell within 1 run. When Jaspreet Bumrah scored Robin Uthappa (1) in the LBW in 5.2 overs.

    In the seventh over, Karna Sharma spoiled the condition of Kolkata by taking two wickets on two consecutive balls. Gautam Gambhir (12) caught by Hardik Pandya on his ball in 6.5 overs. After that, Karna dropped Kolkata’s fifth wicket by making LBW to Colin de Grandhom (0) on the next ball.

    The sixth wicket also got Karn Sharma, who got Ishank Jaggi (28) caught by Mitchell Johnson in 14.5 overs. Jaggi put 3 fours in 31 ball innings. Before being dismissed, Ishank Jaggi, along with Suryakumar Yadav, shared a 56-run partnership with 47 balls.

    In the 17th over, two wickets fell in 6 runs. Piyush Chawla (2) was the seventh batsman to get out, who was caught out by Mitchell Johnson at Ambati Rayudu in 16.1 overs. On the fifth ball of the same over, Johnson bowled Nathan Coulter-Nile (6) at the hands of Hardik Pandya, who got his eighth wicket of Kolkata.

    The ninth wicket is Sun Kumar Yadav. They were caught out by Lasith Malinga at the Jasprit Bumrahah ball in 17.1 overs. Surya scored 31 runs on 25 balls. The last wicket is of Rajput, who was bowled on the bowling of Lasith Malinga.
