Patna: State employees in Bihar will be given the seventh pay scale similar to the center. Nitish cabinet today took a big decision and stamped seventh pay scale. State employees will get the benefit of seventh pay scale from 1st April, 2017. Earlier, the State Pay Commission handed over its report to the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on seventh pay scale on Monday. Former Chief Secretary GS Kang, the Chairman of the Commission, submitted this report to the Chief Minister in the resolution of 1, Anne Marg. It was stamped in today’s cabinet meeting. After which the existing basic salary of Bihar employees will increase to 2.57 times.
The benefit will be available to the regular 4.50 lakh employees and retired 3.50 lakh employees working in the state. According to the information, it has been said that similar to the employees of the Central Government, the pay scales of regular employees will be given to the state employees. They will get the benefit only according to their current basic. It has got approval in the meeting of the Nitish Cabinet today.
An additional burden of Rs 5000 crore
Giving the benefits of the seventh pay scale, the state government will have an additional burden of about Rs 5,000 crore annually on the treasury. At present, the state government spends Rs 2200 crores on the salary and pension items every month. Now he will have to spend more than Rs 416 crore every month.
