in UNHRC responds to Pak, saying – India is a secular nation, has no religion of country .

    new delhi/Geneva:At the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi gave a reply to Pakistan, saying that India is a secular nation, where the security of minorities rights is given importance.

    He also dismissed Pakistan’s allegation of attacking minorities in India. Actually, Pakistan had alleged that minorities are being attacked in India. Indian delegation led by Rohatgi participated in a review meeting organized on the human rights record of member countries of the United Nations.

    India is the world’s largest democratic country
    Rohatgi insisted that India is a totally secular country. It has no national religion of its own. The Indian Constitution has provided security for the rights of minorities. India is the world’s largest democratic country where freedom of thought and expression is given importance.

    Independent judiciary also protects rights
    Rohatgi said that people of India are very conscious about political freedom and rights. In a review meeting on Thursday, Rohatgi reiterated that with the Government in India, the independent judiciary also plays an important role in human rights protection. Without giving the name of Yakub Menon, he said that the Supreme Court in India starts hearing at two o’clock in the night. The Supreme Court granted them the status of third genders to protect the rights of transgender.

    Court gives decision on rights of transenders
    The attorney general said that the Supreme Court rejected the government’s plea that the security forces in the AFSPA area are exempt from law and order. In addition, the court ordered action against the security forces.

    Pakistan raised finger on this matter.
    In this meeting of the UN Human Rights Council, all member countries present documents of their respective human rights records and then there is a right to question other countries. Therefore, Pakistan raised finger on India on this issue, India’s answer to the deal. Meanwhile, Italy, Israel and Japan asked India to abolish the death penalty under international conventions. In this convention, India had signed 19 years ago.
