Patna [MN] In Patna, Ramnavmi means Mahavir temple. But, there was also a time when Mahavir temple was not grand. There was a huge peep tree in front of Patna junction. It was nearby Bihar Misthan reservoir. An added statue of Bajrangbali was established on the railway land and the worship started.
To go to the station, the road was rough at which time the bullock cart was used. The Mahabhar temple was built by collecting one brick in a bull from a bullock carriage passing through this route. On Ramnavmi, people used to sing Chaita with dholak sweets.
The old people of Patna say that at that time Jhantan Pundit resident of Mithapur used to worship the statue of Bajrangbali in front of Patna junction. The British used to be the canteen of the British behind the present Mahavir temple. There was an iron gate near the temple which was closed after the evening, so that no one could go towards the station. At that time the train did not run at night.
In front of the temple was Bankakpur jail where today’s new generation is watching Buddha Smriti Park. There was a canopy puddle near the Chiraytand Kumhartoli east of the temple. People from Goriotoli, Prithipur, Lohanipur used to take bath in the nearby villages. After bathing here many people came to worship at Mahavir temple.
Open Laddu Shop in 1930
Around 1930, Mahadev Lal of Mithapur opened the Besan Ladoo shop near Mahavir temple. Prior to this, there was a tree shop. At that time there were neither flower shops nor the offerings of Prasad. Most women worshiped in a temple bringing home made dish.

On Ramnavmi, people kept fasting in the houses. Women used to make dishes for worship. People used to go to the temple with a Mahavira address from every house. There used to be waving the flag Now everything has changed. Chaita was sung in the Mahavir temple on the day of Ramnavami with the village’s peers.

A large number of young people were involved in Shobha Yatra on Ramnavmi. There was no instrument like today, but there was no shortage of enthusiasm.
