This tunnel is located at an altitude of 1200 meters. This will be the first such route in India that will be equipped with a world-class ‘Integrated Tunnel Control System’ and in which arrangements for air traffic, firefighting, signal, communication and power will be carried out automatically. This route will take two and a half hours to travel between two state capitals Jammu and Srinagar. By the road, the distance between Chenani and Nasheri will now be 10.9 kilometers longer than 41 kilometers.
ITCR will diagnose the problem by contacting the workers present in the tunnel in the worrisome circumstances. SOS boxes are available at every 150 meters in the tunnel. In an emergency, travelers will be able to use them as a hot line. To get help from ITCR, passengers will have to call the “Hello” by opening the SOS box. There will also be firstad stuff and some essential medicines in the SOS box. Opening of this tunnel will reduce the traffic jams on National Highway-1A as well as save time and fuel and the rest of India will get the contact of this state. After the formal inauguration of PM Modi, the IL & FS tunnel project will be handed over to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
