After Uttar Pradesh, illegal slaughterhouses are being processed in Bihar now. Seven illegal slaughterhouses of Rohtas district have been sealed. Patna High Court had instructed that all illegal slaughterhouses in Rohtas should be closed within 6 weeks. In Bihar, BJP leaders had demanded to shut down the illegal slaughterhouses not only on the pressure of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but also to cancel those licenses to those abattoirs who have issued licenses.
From road to house movement
Raising the issue in the Bihar assembly, leader of the opposition, Prem Kumar had said that if Nitish Kumar government did not initiate action against illegal slaughter houses and did not stop them, then BJP will move from road to house to protest. On this issue, Animal Husbandry Minister Avadhesh Kumar Singh in the Bihar government also wrote a letter to all the District Magistrates to close all illegal slaughterhouses of the state. About 150 illegal slaughterhouses are running in Bihar this time.
Demand for action taken in many states
After UP, demands for action on illegal slaughterhouses have started in many states. In Jharkhand, illegal slaughterhouses were given 72 hours ultimatum. In Gurgaon of Haryana, the Shiv Sena closed 500 shops of meat and chicken. These include the multinational food chain KFC. Shiv Sena talked of not allowing meat to be sold in Navaratri Jaipur Municipal Corporation also ordered everyone that from 1 April all those slaughter houses and meat shops will be closed, who do not have a license. But shopkeepers say that they are neither licensed nor license is being renewed.
