Kejriwal government to pay Rs 3,000 crore to DMRC for prevention of hike in metro fare

New Delhi: Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has said that the proposed increase in the fares of the metro has been legalized saying that if Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal don’t wants to hike in fare, the Delhi Government will be in the Metro operation every year. Rs 3000 crore will be required to be repaid.




In a letter to Kejriwal, Puri has said that the Delhi Metro Act does not allow the goverment to stop hiked in metro fare. He said that even if Kejriwal wants to stop the rent hike, the new Rental Assessment Committee can be constituted, provided the Delhi Government Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is compensated for losses of Rs 3000 crore every year in metro operations.
